If you look at pictures of the Altoona Horseshoe Curve online you see gorgeous natural scenery and landscape. Those picture are accurate, but don't do the Horseshoe Curve justice. When you are standing at the Horseshoe Curve, just 30 feet from the massive trains that roll by, you feel the energy, excitement, and magnificence of the curve.

Here is one thing thing not mentioned on the Horseshoe Curve's website. That is that all of the conductors were extremely friendly. Every single time a train went around the curve, its' conductor blew the train whistle, waived, and smiled! There was a train going around the curve every 15 minutes or so. There was a lot of excitement as the trains approached and then circled the curve. As you waited for the next train you could look out over the Horseshoe Curve and enjoy the spectacular view.
